Crossley Hall: what to know before moving day
Crossley Hall Street is the short link between Thornton Road and Thornton Old Road, and the streets nearby, Jesse Street, Godfrey Street and Green Top Street, run off them. Gilynda Close and Fairweather Mews also join Thornton Old Road, so the neighbourhood of Fairweather Green starts only a street or two away.
The Middlebrook streets are the part to be careful with. Middlebrook Drive, Way, Hill, Close, View, Walk, Crescent and Rise are all on the map here, sharing their name with the Middle Brook stream to the south-east. They form one connected group reached from Thornton Old Road at one end and Leaventhorpe Lane at the other, which is useful to know: the van can come in from whichever end is nearer your door.
Landmarks are practical rather than grand: the 5-Alive indoor football centre is a couple of hundred metres to the east, and Bull Greave Wood with Bull Greave Beck lies to the south.
How the van gets to Crossley Hall
From the city centre the van takes Thornton Road, the B6145, west and turns into Crossley Hall Street or Thornton Old Road. For the far end of the Middlebrook streets, Leaventhorpe Lane leaves Thornton Road further west and meets Middlebrook Way. On a B road carrying through traffic, a side-street loading spot is usually easier than stopping on the main road itself.
